Joint efforts to face economic challenges

MUSCAT: The State Council and Majlis Ash’shura offices on Wednesday discussed a range of issues which contribute in the development of joint coordination between the two councils to ensure the integration of roles to serve public interest. The meeting was presided over by Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, and Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura. The two stressed the importance of holding continuous regular meetings between the two councils with the ministers concerned to learn about the efforts and measures taken by the government in economic sphere to integrate efforts and opinions designed to overcome the challenges facing the Omani economy, so that the process of development continues to achieve the set goals.

The two offices touched on the membership of the Council of Oman in regional, Arab and international parliamentary organisations and coordination so as to enhance the presence of the Sultanate in the parliamentary forums at all levels. They also highlighted the importance of taking into account the coordination of provisions on mechanisms of joint action between the two councils, in addition to discussing a joint mechanism for protocols and services provided to parliamentary guests and delegations visiting the two councils. The two offices stressed the importance of inviting the counterpart committees in both councils.
