ITPF Muscat meeting decides to hold world cup

MUSCAT: The General Assembly of the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) on Wednesday held its 2nd meeting for 2017 under the chairmanship of Mohammed bin Issa al Fairouz, ITPF Chairman, with broad participation of the member states.


The General Assembly approved minutes of the previous meeting.


It also reviewed applications for hosting the world cup, qualifying tournaments and training courses, as well as reviewing applications for joining the ITPF and activating the Beach Committee.


The ITPF General Assembly approved organising the 1st Beach Championship for Tent Pegging in the Sultanate. It also approved granting orders and the strategic plan for the game law, in addition to discussing performance of the committees and reviewing implementation of orders delegated to the committees within the strategic plan.

Mohammed bin Issa al Fairouz, ITPF Chairman, said in his opening speech that since launching the ITPF on October 27, 2013 in Muscat, it witnessed many activities and programmes. The foremost of which was formulating the statute of the ITPF, regulations for the assistant committees and updating laws of the game.

Al Fairouz affirmed that the ITPF is striving to popularise and develop tent pegging sport in all continents of the world.


Squadron Leader Hamad bin Salim al Balushi, Head of ITPF Competitions Committee said since establishing the ITPF, many global championships and friendly competitions were organised to activate this sport and popularising it at the level of countries around the world. He added that 32 countries have joined the ITPF, which indicates the rapid popularity of the game.


Major Mahmoud Firas al Masri, Director of Police Equestrian Club in the Syrian Arab Republic praised the Sultanate’s efforts and major role in disseminating tent pegging sport through hosting the ITPF headquarters, as well as supporting the efforts to promote the game.


Saad Karim al Hilali, Head of the ITPF Veterinary Committee, said the work being carried out by the ITPF contributes in popularising the game and highlighting the sport at the world level. — ONA
