ITPF details unveiled

MUSCAT: Mohammed bin Eisa al Fairouz, Chairman of the Muscat-based International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF), on Sunday unveiled the details of the Sultanate’s hosting of the 1st international tent pegging competition in the Wilayat of Masirah in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah from March 10 to 12. Al Fairouz said that the Sultanate is ready to host this important international sport event, which is held in the Sultanate for the first time.


He added that the top seven teams at the 2nd tent pegging competition which was held in Egypt have been selected for participation in the third version of the competition. These teams are Oman, Iraq, Sudan, South Africa, Yemen, Jordan and UAE as Egypt and India teams excused. The completion will apply the beach competition law, which has been approved of the technical committee. Three medals will be allocated for this competition compared to 8 medals at the previous competition. “The competition is held using loaned horses, therefore horses will be supplied by the Royal Cavalry, the Sultan of Oman Armour Cavalry and the Royal Guard of Oman Cavalry. — ONA
