MUSCAT, Dec 20 - The Indian Social Club Urdu Wing’s much-awaited annual Mushaira will be held on Friday at Ministry of Education Auditorium at Wattayah. Gates open at 6.30 pm. The Urdu Wing – part of the non-profit literary and cultural organisation ISC – has been organising literary events in Oman since 2006. According to Mohammad Faizi, Convener, the Wing’s key goal is to promote the Urdu language along with ‘tahzeeb’ of Indian culture. “The event is being organised to promote Urdu, the idiom of heritage and affection, which is a prominent language of daily use,” he said This weekend’s event will feature prominent Urdu poets Nawaz Deobandi, Anwar Jalalpuri, Lata Haya, Muzaffar Abdali, Siya Sachdev, Shareef Bharti and Anwar Kamal, said Syed Salman, Cultural Head of the Urdu Wing.
