ISAS, Maabela school win titles

MUSCAT: The upcoming talent of both boys and girls was tested at the recently concluded Gulf hockey fiesta organised by United Thalassery Sports Club (UTSC) at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, when the junior cup was conducted.


In the first match of girls category, the brilliance of strikers Natasha and Andriea saw ISAS beat Maabela B team by 2-0. In the second match, Maabela A team beat Maabela B team by 8-0, in which Nuza Jawis, daughter of UTSC player OV Jawis, scored seven goals. But in the final Nuza was completely marked by the Seeb School defenders and Seeb won the title 3-1. Aysha of ISAS scored two goals and Natasha found the net once.


In the boys category, it was Maabela school which was superior than Seeb school and Wadi Kabir school. In the first match, ISWK drew with ISAS with both teams failing to score.


In the second match ISWK and Maabela school drew 1-1 and in the final the same teams met again and Maabela won on penalty shoot-out. Adam Raffi of ISWK, son of UTSC player Mohammed Raffi, and Faris of ISWK with their individual skills showed the large spectators that they are the future of tomorrow.


International players who took part in the Gulf hockey fiesta gave away the prizes to the young talents.
