International health expo on Oct 9

MUSCAT: The Oman Medical Association(OMA) and Oman International Health Exhibition 2017 will start on October 9 to showcase the latest developments in the medical sector and will be organised by the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (Oman Expo) and will last for three days.


Speaking at a press conference held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Muscat, Ahmed Sayed, Director of the Oman International Health Exhibition and Wellness Conference 2017 at Expo Oman, said that the conference will be a continuation of the series of conferences held since 2009.


He added that this version has OMA as a strategic partner supporting the implementation of the conference in accordance with a new methodological vision that contributes to its development and upgrading it to the ranks of international conferences.


He added that the exhibition will be attended by a number of international institutions specialized in the production and marketing of medical tools, medical supplies, medical institutions and hospitals.


The number of exhibitors will be 150 from 18 countries. He also said that the conference will present the plans of the Ministry of Health and OMA to promote the health sector in the Sultanate, as well as to review the latest developments in the medical field locally and globally.


He added that the health projects of the Ministry of Health will be presented to improve health services and provide the latest research and technologies that contribute to the development of Health System in the Sultanate.


Dr Waleed bin Khalid al Zadjali, Chairman of OMA explained that the conference will discuss many topics, including general medicine, surgery, dentistry, pediatrics, ophthalmology, nose, ear, throat and gynecology.


He pointed out that the conference will focus on presenting the latest developments in the medical sector with the participation of 400 people and 50 local and international speakers, pointing out that the conference represents a good endeavour for renewal and development in health services in the Sultanate and an opportunity to exchange experiences among employees in this field, in addition to study the problems they face in their daily work to find successful solutions to these problems.


Dr Sultan bin Salim al Harthy, OMA Secretary General explained that the association has many roles, including recreational, social and legal, through which the rights of patients are safeguarded, in addition to defending doctors.


He pointed out that the Association seeks to establish a legal conference in cooperation with relevant authorities, such as the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Court with the aim of coming out of a law that does not criminalise the doctor but is neutral. — ONA
