Doha: Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior, participated in the two-day Safety and Security Conference, which started in Doha on Tuesday.

The conference was inaugurated by Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Qatar.

The conference is organized by the Security Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SCDL) in collaboration with Interpol. It aims to establish security measures and precautions for international sporting events and to implement them in preparation for these events.

The conference will also contribute to determining the security arrangements to be made during the sports championships to be held in Qatar in 2022. The conference brings together a number of countries that have hosted major international sporting events to reflect best practices, successes and lessons learned, enhancing the preparations of countries that plan to organize such events in the future by providing them with the latest knowledge and expertise to enrich the security preparations for hosting a major event. Models of risk-based policing will be introduced in relation to major sporting events, ways to respond to the evolving threat environment, as well as the vital infrastructure immunity of the event.
