Some of Oman fans who suffered minor injuries following an accident on Friday have left the hospital, said Oman’s Ambassador to Kuwait. He said rest of the injured will be leaving for home in the coming days.
Almost 40 football fans from Oman have been injured in Kuwait after a glass barrier broke during celebrations following the country’s Gulf Cup win over the United Arab Emirates. The barrier at Jaber al-Ahmad International stadium broke as fans from Oman pressed against the glass during celebrations, with the team several metres below at pitch level.
Anas Khalid al Saleh, Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, also visited the hospital and met with the injured Oman fans.
