Indian Social Club to launch Poetry and Literary Group on Sept 14

MUSCAT: The Indian Social Club has announced the launch of its latest initiative Poetry and Literary Group on September 14, Friday.


This will present a broader platform for poets to showcase their talent and skill on wider scale reaching out to bigger audience.


The mission and vision of Poetry Literary Group is to engage, inspire, motivate and encourage literary activities.


It is expected that this initiative of ISC will enhance and enlighten the various perspectives of poetry and language to a new zenith.


ISC provides support and opportunity for all kind of arts for Indian Diaspora, and Poetry and Literary Group is its latest initiative. This group will engage and support diverse poetry audiences.


Poets from different spheres of life will exhibit their talent under banner of a single consortium named as Indian School Club Poetry and Literary Group.


ISC PLG aims at holding monthly meetings with diverse activities such as poetry recitation, understanding poetry of legends and story-telling sessions.


Indian ambassador to the Sultanate inaugurate the poetry group sessions.


Activities of Poetry and Literary Group will be coordinated by Tufail Ahmed, a prominent local poet who has conducted several programmes during the last two decades to promote literary and poetry activities among Indian diaspora in the Sultanate.


About the launch of this group, Tufail said, “Poetry and literature is the language of our heart and soul. There is no established platform in this country for Indian diaspora to express their mind.


“ISC PLG will provide that platform and create a central pivotal position for development of poetry and literature among Indian community in Oman. It will continue to build new avenues to promote writers and poets and connect with poetry and literature loving people who are in abundance in the community.”


Suhail Khan, Entertainment and Joint Sports Secretary of ISC, said, “Indian Social Club always aspires to promote culture and traditions among the diaspora in Oman. Our endeavour has been to provide a platform at the ISC for the large Indian community to showcase their skills and talents across various disciplines including music, dance, poetry and sports.


“Poetry has been part of our culture and I am sure as we go along this journey we would find and nurture new talent as well as an avenue for connoisseurs of poetry to come listen to what local poets have to offer.”
