SALALAH, august 20 - An ice cave in Salalah Tourism Festival (STF) has many things to offer in one visit. It has real ice, waterfall, river, mountain, snow, bubbles, smoke and big trees in the background of light, sound and music that make the show impressive and memorable.

Brought first time to the STF by Arth al Salam, the show takes the visitors to an unforgettable journey amid real ice. The cave settings is so nicely done that everyone gets overwhelmed as coming out of it.

“The settings inside the cave has been so delicately done that it keeps you totally disconnected all through your 30-minute of stay… as if you are amid natural mountain, river and trees. The light and sound, however, keep you reminded that you are in some entertainment plaza and the children get excited over sudden flow of bubbles and clouds,” said Mohammed, a visitor from Taqah.

Mohammed liked the introduction of this new item in the festival, but rued its location. “It is so far and behind everything that hardly anyone notices unless someone specifically mentions about it.

I managed to notice it while proceeding towards circus enclosure. I thanked my decision to visit the ice cave. My children also liked it,” he said.

Dhanya Arun, Arth al Salam Managing Director, got this idea from her husband who works in a film production company and deals mainly with settings, studio, etc for film shooting. “I found this idea very interesting and successfully introduced to the STF.

In terms of concept and product, our ice cave is one of the best entertainment items in the festival, but I admit that our location is not proper and not many people know that we are here in the festival ground,” she said.

“I request the STF authorities to give priority to new and good concepts like ours and allocate location where there is visibility and the visitors find it easy to approach our booth,” she said.

Commenting on her challenge of doing the cave, Dhanya said, “It took about one month to complete the cave with more than 25 workers.” She appreciated support from Anas al Hamdan and her group members Midhun, Krishnan, Arun Mohan and Raji. She has been managing events for the last 14 years but this was her first time at the STF.

The chill factor inside the cave was something amazing and liked by the children of all age groups. Some children were found insisting their parents to visit the cave again, while most of the parents endorsed it as “an entirely new experience for Salalah.”
