Hutchison Ports Sohar receives ISO certificates

By Business Reporter — SOHAR: Dec 10: Hutchison Ports Sohar has been awarded with an international certificate for the management of occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001) and international certificate for environmental management (ISO 14001) and the international certificate of quality (ISO 9001) on December 6, 2016. All this was achieved in less than a year after the start of evaluations and audits by the donor of international certificates in these areas. ISO certificate is based on company’s compliance to highest standards of attention to safety, environment and occupational health of its employees and visitors with the provision of adequate protection required.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Chief Executive Officer Albert Pang, of Hutchison Ports Sohar. Receiving the award the CEO said, “We’re proud of our team and their efforts to attain this certification. The certificate for the management of occupational safety and environmental management (OHSAS 18001) helps increase awareness about occupational health & safety inside the company as well as to others in the field. Our team worked hard to increase the environmental level through the application of international standard for environmental management in the energy and natural resource consumption in all its activities there by securing the international certificate of environmental management (ISO 14001). The company has also demonstrated effective implementation of a management system by obtaining  international certificate of quality (ISO 9001) and the goal is to ensure that we maintain the achievement and further develop and raise them moving forward by more efforts from all the employees in the company.’

The Regional Director of TUV Nord Middle East,  Basheer Salem, presented the award to the Hutchison Ports Sohar and said, “These certificates confirms the company’s keenness to abide by the international standards in occupational safety, health, environmental and quality in all its projects and that this achievement will develop the credibility and image of the company, increase customer satisfaction and create a culture of continuous improvement.”
