Honeymoon time

Traditionally here in the UK, this time is one of most popular times to get married. Because of the summer months which brings drier and hotter days, (but bear in mind we are talking British weather here, so anything could happen – apparently it’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day) days are also usually longer and it gets dark much later.

For those who are getting wed, I happened to chitchat with my travel agents the other week so here’s a monthly honeymoon helper to bear in mind especially in which destination to gallivant for your honeymoon.

January:

Well, it has to be the Middle East. November to March is the best time to visit Dubai, Oman, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. The temperatures are bearable, the humidity is low and rain is virtuality non-existent.

February:

Sri Lanka can be visited all year round, but be aware of two monsoon periods. The first covers the south/west and is between May and August and the second covers the north/east occurring between October and January.

March:

This month has to be the Caribbean. A region that has a great climate year round but best to avoid the hurricane season in September and October. In March, temperatures average in the mid to late 20s. You can also visit other places like Egypt and Jordan.

April:

Southern Africa from April through to October is a great time to experience a safari. You can do this either in South Africa or Botswana. The region receives its rainfall between October and March so the days are dry and sunny, and game viewing is excellent. You can also enjoy the best whale watching adventure.

May:

The Indian Ocean Island is at its best climate between May and October. The temperature is between the mid 20s so very pleasant for couples to explore the outdoors. The prices are also the most affordable. There may be showers but they tend to be short and sharp bursts.

June:

Morocco in June offers a reasonable climate, but without the crowds. In June, the weather is up to the mid 20s, which rises going in to summer. Explore ancient cities and wander through Casa Blanca and fall in love not only with the locals but the comfy scenes.

July:

Nambia/Zambia is the peak month for these two jewels. You can expect a super safari experience with perfect conditions. Just be warned that prices are also at their highest.

August:

In Kenya on this month, one will witness the great annual migration which hits the plains of the Masai Mara. This is peak season, so consider Tanzania at another time of the year when the migration works its way around the Serengeti.

September:

Bermuda is the quintessentially a slice of paradise which allows you to enjoy a good climate all year round. Head out here in September and get to see picture perfect scenes and romantic getaways.

October:

The three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia cover a huge area so the climate can vary greatly by region but October is the best time if you plan to travel around all three.

November:

India – a vast country with significant climatic variations from region to region but as a rule November to March is the best time to visit and avoid excessive humidity.

December:

While the winter months are the best time for a safari in South Africa, Cape Town and the south of the county is at its prime between November and February. Be aware many, South Africans travel at this time as it coincides with their school holidays.
