RIYADH: Heads of news agencies in the GCC countries concluded their 20th meeting at the headquarters of the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh under the chairmanship of Bahrain. Oman News Agency (ONA) was represented in the meeting by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak al Araimi, Director General, Editor-in-Chief of ONA, and Amer bin Saif al Kalbani, Head of Arabic News Desk. The meeting discussed several topics that would enhance and increase cooperation and coordination among the GCC news agencies and keep abreast of the developments related to the modern media services.
It also discussed the future work plan of the Technical Committee for the interaction of technical programs with the social media and the establishment of an information base for gathering news, photos and videos, as well as linking them to be used by GCC institutions so as to be extended to the community to form a knowledge base that enriches the GCC digital content on the Internet. The meeting discussed the report of the Secretariat on the exchange of visits of editors, photographers and technicians in the GCC news agencies, as well as the establishment of training courses, workshops, training seminars and other topics related to media work in the news agencies. — ONA
