Sustainable development and incredible natural biodiversity which remains largely unspoiled and untouched, are the most captivating reasons for the visitors to come to Oman. For them there are very few places like this left in the world and it is a privilege to be able to experience the beautiful beaches and coastline in complete solitude.

A true lover of Salalah Alex Celini of UK is in favour of sustainable development. And here lies her love for Oman. Despite being briefly in Oman, she has developed good understanding for the country and wants its natural beauties preserved because of the fact that the world is fast losing its natural charm and is being converted into artificial jungle. A blogger and volunteer Celini writes a blog on environmental issues and worked as a volunteer for Environment Society of Oman’s (ESO) frankincense project, where she was responsible for collecting and analysing weather data.

She is from Scotland, but has German/ Italian parents. She travels extensively and has always had a great interest in learning about other countries and cultures.

“Thirty-seven countries and counting,” she says while commenting on number of countries she has visited. “But Oman and its Dhofar Governorate in particular is unique... how unspoiled it is. Most other unspoiled places in the world are incredibly inaccessible and or have very little infrastructure. Oman is easy to reach and still allows you to have a world-class beach all to yourself!”

Talking about the differences between Oman and her own country, Celini says, the differences lie in weather, price of fuel, lifestyle and amenities. Coming from the capital city of Scotland, she finds Salalah offers very little to do.

“And people are people, no matter where they are in the world,” she quipped when asked about the familiarities.

A graduate in psychology, Celini has fallen in love with Oman’s natural beauty and tranquility in Salalah. “My husband’s work brought us here. And I am lucky to be here to see so much of natural beauty,” she said when asked how did she come to Oman.

Her favourite picnic spot is Fazaya Beach, which, according to her is “just stunning!”
