Handball Association, clubs discuss new season schedules

MUSCAT, April 25 – The competitions committee of the Oman Handball Association conducted a meeting with clubs in the presence of Othman al Qasmi, head of competitions committee, Mohammed al Musharafi, committee member, and Zuhair Samah, technical expert in the association, and various representatives of clubs. The meeting discussed different suggestions made by the clubs about the dates of the competitions during the 2018/2019 sports season. Also, the meeting deliberated on the challenges that are faced by the clubs to activate the game and what the federation can offer in this area.
During the meeting, association and clubs affirmed that there are needs to be a strategic partnership to spread handball in the Sultanate and to increase the number of clubs in local tournaments. In addition, the meeting discussed the suggestions of dates of starting the tournaments and that should match with Oman national team’s participation. Some clubs suggested to extend the duration of the championships. There were others who spoke about how to get results from the youth training centres that feed the national teams in the future.
