MUSCAT: To provide students insights into smart city projects and smart techniques, a group of 3rd and 4th year Computer Sciences students along with the head of Computer Sciences are currently conducting an excursion to various research institutions in Germany.

This week the group visited the University of Bremen where they were welcomed by Prof Dr Yasmin Karakasoglu, Vice President of the University, and Katrin Durow from the International Office of the University of Bremen. The group was then introduced to various research laboratories such as the Bremen Ambient Assisted Living Lab (BAALL). The GUtech students also attended a workshop about ‘The Internet of Things’ at the renowned German Research Centre, the Fraunhofer Institute in Bonn. In addition, the students visited GUtech’s partner-university in Germany, RWTH Aachen University. The excursion is part of the Computer Science study-programme and sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
