MUSCAT: The Graduates Survey 2017, being implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and represented by the Graduates Survey Department, will be conducted from January 15 to February 15.

The survey targets 62,835 graduates of 2013, 2014 and 2015 from 66 educational institutions in the Sultanate, as well as graduates from abroad, said Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Sarmi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, during the press conference which was held at the Ministry’s headquarters. Dr Al Sarmi affirmed that the graduates survey is one of the basic tools that help in creating match between education outputs and labour market needs. It will provide data that will be used in drafting strategic plans for education, higher education, Omanisation and sustainability of human resources.

He added that the graduates survey 2017 is the second graduate survey implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education represented by the Graduates Survey Department after the survey in 2015. The 2015 survey has a positive effect on providing data, indicators and recommendations that serve education and employment sectors.

He noted that the response to the 2015 survey stood at 34 per cent with hopes to increase this rate to 50 per cent in 2017 survey. The 2017 survey is a national project that requires the collaboration of all efforts to have accurate data on the programmes, majors and skills that the labour market requires from graduates. He called for positive interaction with the survey by filling the e-form available on the graduate survey website. — ONA
