Global Money Exchange to offer passport services

Muscat: Global Money Exchange Company has tied up with BLS International to provide passport and visa services through its branches.


Under the arrangement, Global Money Exchange branches will be accepting applications and related documents from Indian nationals for renewal of their passport or the new passport applications of their newborns.


The passport renewal fees will be collected along with the applications, which will be sent to BLS International for onward processing at Indian Embassy.


The facility will be initially provided at nine branches of Global Money Exchange — Salalah, Sur, Suhar, Shinas, Nizwa, Ibri, Duqm, Khasab and Al Buraimi.


Announcing the launch of the service on Sunday, P Kannan Nair, Second Secretary (consular section), Indian Embassy, Muscat, inaugurated the service at a function held in Ruwi. “We are happy to associate with Global Money Exchange, in providing the passport/visa services. Our aim is to give better service to the applicants,” an official at BLS International said.


The new service will benefit more than 700,000 Indian expat population and the Omani nationals who can avail the service to process the Indian Visa.


R Madhusoodanan, General Manager, said, “More such new initiatives are on the anvil and awaiting approvals at various levels. A few more branches in remote locations will also be added during the year, he said. Remittances to Kerala Chief Minister’s flood relief fund have been made free. This facility continues and available at all our branches. The employees also contributed to the fund.”


Currently the company has got 46 locations across Oman, including the currency and remittance business at the Muscat International Airport. The company will also be offering similar service at the Duqm Airport.
