GED exams start on Jan 8

MUSCAT: The General Education Diploma (GED) exams or its equivalent certificates for the academic year 2018-19 will start in all governorates of the Sultanate from January 8.


The Directorate-General of Educational Assessment at the Ministry of Education has completed all preparations for the exams.


A total of 48,570 students will write the exams, said Dr Zuwaina bint Salih al Maskariyah, Director-General of Educational Assessment. These include: Regular GED (41,767), adult education (5,173) private bilingual schools (1,193), Islamic institutes (198), Royal Guard of Oman Technical College (37), special education (62), Omar Ibn Al Khattab Institute (13) and International Programme (127).


Exams will be conducted in 336 centres, of which 48 are in the Muscat Governorate. The remaining have been distributed as follows: North Al Batinah (43), South Al Batinah (36), Al Dakhiliyah (46), South Al Sharqiyah (24), North Al Sharqiyah (31), Al Dhahirah (22) and Dhofar (50). — ONA
