MUSCAT: The activities of the GCC Inmates Week will begin today under the title “Together to Achieve Reform”. The event is aimed at communicating with prison inmates and associating them in the process of building a better future for themselves and the whole society. Col Rashid bin Hamdan al Hajri, Director-General of Prisons, said this year the Inmates Week is held under the title “Together to Achieve Reform” because the prisons are fundamentally reformatory institutions which target to train and educate the inmates to qualify them for a better life and improved living conditions. The inmates receive training in English language, computer and they obtain training certificates which enable them to get jobs in the public and private establishments.
