Forces set for war games

Muscat: The Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) and other units have completed their field, land, air and maritime deployment for Al Shumookh 2 and Al Saif Al Sareea 3 (Swift Sword 3) military exercises on Monday. Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces ( exercise manager), accompanied by Air Vice-Marshall Matar bin Ali al Obaidani, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman ( exercise chief control), Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman ( exercise deputy manager), and other senior officers visited the commands, cells and divisions taking part in the military exercises to take stock of the preparations.


They visited the Exercise Control and Joint Command, Navy Command, Air Force Command, the media centre, the National Emergency Centre and the Royal Oman Police (ROP) Command. SAF Chief of Staff and other commanders were briefed on the events and possible scenarios of the exercises. The top officials were also briefed on the roles assigned to these commands. SAF Chief of Staff praised the preparations done by the commands, cells and division for Al Shumookh 2 and Al Saif Al Sareea 3 (Swift Sword 3) military exercises.

ROYAL NAVY OF OMAN READY


The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) said its fleet and personnel have military and technological capabilities for taking part in the war games. RNO said it will deploy its team of crew, vessels and vehicles along with the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other military, security and civil organisations taking part at the military exercises. — ONA
