Five teams with 27 points at the relegation zone

Five clubs are tied on 27 points and are effectively in the relegation zone after the completion of the 24th round of matches in the Omantel League on Wednesday.


The five clubs are Oman Club, Saham, Fanja, Al Mudhaibi and Al Salam.


Meanwhile, Dhofar, Muscat and Sohar are on 30 points with while Mirbat is in the ninth place with 29 points.


In the matches that were played, former champion Fanja secured an important victory against Al Nasr 2-1 while Sohar snatched a 3-1 victory over second placed Al Shabab.


Muscat thumped Al Salam 3-1 at Sohar Sports Complex. Al Nahdha strengthened its presence in the top four as they outplayed Mirbat 5-1 at Al Buraimi Sports Complex.


Saham edged Al Mudhaibi 1-0 at Nizwa sports complex. League champions, Al Suwaiq registered a triumph against Al Oruba 3-0 at Sohar Sports Complex while Oman and Dhofar match finished in a 1-1 draw in Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


The competitions committee decided to postpone the matches of 25th week of Omantel league and it will be played on May 29 and 30 instead of May 26 and 27. Also, the committee postponed the matches of last round and final ceremony of the league to June 3 instead of May 31.


All the above changes are due to the threat posed by the tropical cyclone (Mekunu) that is expected to hit southern Oman.
