WHY IS RAMADHAN IMPORTANT FOR YOU?

By fasting, one develops empathy with those who have little to eat every day and experiences hunger and thirst.

Every part of the body observes fast, like the tongue must be restrained from backbiting and gossip, eyes must be restrained from looking at unlawful matters and ears must refrain from listening to idle talk or obscene words. The hand must give in charity. The feet must refrain from going to sinful places.

DO YOU DO CHARITY WORKS?

Charity is a part and parcel of my life and that is a round the year activity for several decades now. During Ramadhan, we tend to do more charity and that’s a good thing I believe.

WHAT SHOULD PEOPLE ALWAYS REMEMBER EVEN AFTER RAMADHAN?

One should strive to make the feelings and experiences learned by Fasting in Ramadhan to stay throughout during their normal lives and become better human beings. Only then will the world become a better place to live in for the future generations.

Do you have a family tradition??

We join our friends who celebrate Ramadhan and take part in their Iftars. Besides that, her in Muscat, we have a lot of Iftars around us and one wouldn’t be feeling being left out during the day or for iftar.

WHAT IS YOUR FONDEST MEMORY OF RAMADHAN GROWING UP?

Since childhood, I used to observe my fasting friends and try to understand the upheavals that they go through at that age. That was the biggest lesson I received as a child — to look at others and to understand what hunger and penury is.

This experience has really contributed to whatever I am today.
