1. What is the significance of Ramadhan for you and why is it important?

Ramadhan is a time of forgiveness, giving and being with family. It is a time of understanding what the poor go through and disciplining yourself to do the same.

2. How do you (and your family) celebrate Ramadhan? Do you have a family tradition?

We have Iftar daily with family, where everyone brings dishes. Ramadhan brings all families closer together.

3. What is your fondest memory about Ramadhan growing up?

My fondest memory is: when I was told to fast as a child and getting a reward because I fasted all day.

4. Do you help the poor during Ramadhan and how?

As I said, Ramadhan is a time of giving. I organise a garage sale at the hotel and the money raised goes to feed the needy. I also raise funds separately and buy ration for the month for some families.

5. What’s the most difficult challenge you have to personally overcome during Ramadhan?

The first couple of days are tough as I am used to drinking my coffee everyday but after that it becomes easy. It is only that you discipline yourself, once you do that you can overcome anything.
