Fahd, Indian minister discuss relations

MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, on Wednesday received M J Akbar, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, who is taking part in the 5th Arab-Indian Partnership Conference.


The conference is attended by ministers, businessmen and investors from India and Arab countries.


The minister conveyed the greetings of President Pranab Mukherjee and the Government of India to His Majesty the Sultan and their best wishes of further success to His Majesty and the Omani people more progress and prosperity.


HH Sayyid Fahd praised the strong relations between the two nations and the keenness of both countries to further develop their joint relationship. He stressed the importance of the Arab-India partnership particularly in the fields of economy, trade, science, innovation, IT and exchange of expertise.  The meeting also discussed ways of fostering cooperation between Oman and India in various fields and the great role played by the private sector in opening new horizons for joint investments. M J Akbar expressed his admiration for the development that has taken place in various fields in the Sultanate, affirming the appreciation of the government of India for the achievements made by the Sultanate and its strong relations with the international community under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.
