Expo of scientific innovations and robot competitions held

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad, yesterday organised an exhibition of scientific innovations and robot competitions held at the Sports Hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The exhibition aims to encourage students to study science and scientific research to develop their abilities at a stage of school education, and it aims to develop students’ skills in the right methodology of their research. In addition, it aims to encourage students to research, to get scientific thinking and to develop their innovation skills.


The exhibition includes four different sections: the first includes 68 different innovations in four aspects: engineering systems, natural sciences, mathematics, environmental sciences, energy and transportation. While the other section includes the robot competitions, which compete for 44 teams in five aspects which are: follow the line, Sumo, collecting balls, the first lego, and the free competition. The third section of exhibition is The PDO Renewable Energy Award. It includes 17 different innovations as the participating teams offer innovative and diverse solutions to use renewable energy sources in daily life. The fourth section is for global environmental students, which includes 24 scientific papers related to data collected by students on problems related to the Omani environment.
