Evening of traditional music and dance in Nizwa

The Oman Centre for Traditional Music of the Sultan Qaboos Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of the Royal Court celebrated the 47th National Day on Thursday at the Nizwa Cultural Centre. The musical evening was held in the presence of Dr Khalifa bin Hamad al Saadi, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah and attended by Hamoud bin Ali al Easari, Assistant Secretary-General of the Sultan Qaboos Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of the Royal Court.


The evening included 15 songs by the Music Centre Band for an hour and 45 minutes.


Nearly 20 musicians and singers participated in the evening led by the legal artist Amir Awad and the flute player Khaled Mansour and saw the artists Rajab Khamis and Nabhan al Alawi.


Since its establishment in 1984, the Oman Centre for Traditional Music has been collecting and documenting traditional Omani music.


It prepares and publishes musical studies that highlight its cultural and aesthetic characteristics. It contributes to the preservation of the Omani music and its heritage and also brings together musical experiences and talents.
