Hundreds of concert lovers attended the Royal Opera House’s traditional year-end concert on Saturday evening that took them on a journey into the wonderful world of Broadway with the British baritone, Simon Keenlyside, one of the world’s most sought-after and charismatic singers. The music was performed by PKF — Prague Philharmonia under the baton of the renowned British American conductor, Charles David Abell. With his versatility and highly charged performances on stage, Keenlyside enchanted the audience with famous songs from musicals such as My Fair Lady, The King and I, Carousel and Oklahoma! Speaking of the future in a recent interview Keenlyside said, “I’ll never get tired of the stand-and-sing roles like Germont in Traviaa and Posa in Don Carlos — parts where you really have to act with your voice and pin the audience to their seats with inflexion, nuance and colour”. True to his words Simon Keenlyside excited everyone at the 2016 year-end gala as he promised.
