MUSCAT: English FA Chairman Greg Clarke, who is currently in Oman, visited the Oman Football Association to discuss relations between the two footballing bodies.

The meeting was attended by OFA Chairman Shaikh Salim al Wahaibi, First Vice-Chairman Mohsin al Masroori, Second Vice-Chairman Dr Jassim al Shukeili and General Secretary, CEO and Board Member Dr Ahmed Haboush al Farsi.

During the meeting, both parties discussed relations between the two entities and speculated about how the FA can help contribute towards the development of the sport in Oman.

They also discussed collaborations between the two countries — with opportunities for the football fraternity from Oman in England to boost learning, development and knowledge around the sport a key part of the discussion.

The OFA Board of Directors met this past week to discuss a number of key issues concerning the OFA.

Jassim al Shukeili, Second Vice-Chairman of the Board, will continue presiding over the National Teams Committee.

The Board also approved the participation of men’s and women’s national teams taking part in the Gulf Cup this year, the latter a historic decision as it will be the first official tournament in which they will participate.

Lastly, the football development plan for Musandam drafted by the development committee was approved and will come into effect as planned.
