Egypt, Tunisia players shine as Arab TT begins

MUSCAT, august 15 - The 16th Arab Table Tennis Cup kicked off at the at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, on Monday.


Hosted by the Sultanate from August 15 to 20, the Championship is organised by Oman Table Tennis Committee in cooperation with the Arab Table Tennis Federation.


Tunisia’s Yunus Mustafa topped the Junior Boys Group A with 4 points after beating both Qatar’s Ali Ba Ali and Iraq’s Anwar Hameed 3-2. Ali Ba came second and Anwar Hameed finished third with 3 points each and Oman’s Ali al Balushi finished fourth.


Egypt’s Yusuf Ehab topped Group A with 4 points after beating Algeria’s Abdulbasit al Shishi 3-1 and Qatar’s Yusuf Hussain 3-0 who shared the second place. Yusuf Hussain defeated Oman’s Al Munthir al Ghassani 3-1.


In Group C, Egypt’s Mohammed Waleed and Lebanon’s Mohammed al Habsh secured 4 points each sharing the group’s leadership.


Tunisia’s Khaleel al Murad topped Group D having beaten Algeria’s Abdulrahman Ghazala 3-0 and Iraq’s Amir Mohammed 3-1. Iraq’s Amir Mohammed and Morocco’s Kamil Antoine shared the second place.


Egyptian player Fadwa al Qarsi topped the Junior Girls Group A with 4 points after beating Lebanon’s Mariam al Habsh and Morocco’s Nadwa al Najdawy. Mariam al Habsh secured the second place following a 3-0 win over Qatar’s Al Anoud al Safar.


Egypt’s Hanaa Ibrahim topped Group B with 4 points after beating both Tunisia’s Balqouti Manal and Iraq’s Asmaa Khair Allah, both players shared the second place. In Group C, Egypt’s Sarah Yassir, Qatar’s Shouq Saad and Lebanon’s Litisia Azar collected 2 points.
