The Ministry of Sports Affairs (MoSA) issued a clarification on the presence of dust in the chairs on the stands of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Boucher.

The Ministry said it attaches great importance to the maintenance and cleanliness of all sports facilities and ensure its readiness for any sports event held on the Sultanate's soil, which has been often praised by the international federations.

The ministry said in a statement that the images showing dusty chairs at the Sultan Qaboos Complex in Boucher belong only to a small part of the stadium and there is an annual contract with one of the companies concerned with the cleanliness and maintenance of all sports complexes across the Sultanate.

The ministry said all facilities at the Sultan Qaboos complex are cleaned daily, including the stands, especially, before hosting any games, whether local or international.

The ministry said that a large commercial project is currently underway near the complex and the dust reported on the chairs is due to the construction work.

The ministry said it had taken up the matter with the company involved with the construction of that project to ensure that all necessary measures are in place to prevent the dust from spreading to nearby areas.

The ministry stressed that it is keen to maintain the facilities to ensure the comfort of the public who come to follow the matches.
