MUSCAT, April 30 - Finishing touches are being given to the passenger terminal building at Duqm Airport, said the official media channel of the Special Economic Zone. “The new terminal will be opened in June this year,” the official media platform said. It may be noted that the airport which started operations from a makeshift terminal since the second half of 2014 has seen a growth in the number of domestic passengers on the year-to-year basis. Duqm Airport will be able to accommodate all types of aircraft, including those handling large passenger numbers and air cargo loads with in-flight catering facilities. The terminal, which can handle up to 500,000 travellers per year, will have a 4-km runway, a cargo terminal with an initial 50,000-tonne capacity and duty-free shops. It will have two boarding bridges.
