Dr Mantheri at centennial celebrations of Azerbaijani Parliament

MUSCAT: Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, will participate in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the National Council of Azerbaijan, at the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Asadev.


The Council Chairman will leave today to the Republic of Azerbaijan and in course of the visit will meet with a number of senior Azerbaijani officials.


Dr Al Mantheri will be accompanied by Rahma Hamed al Musharrafi, Ahmed Yousuf Obaid al Harthi and Shaikh Nasser bin Saeed al Haddabi.


Forum, hosted in Saint Petersburg, Russia, from September 19 to 21.

The forum is being organised by the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Parliamentary Assembly of State Members of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Eurasian Women’s Forum, is a major international event and is receiving increasing attention reflecting the growing and entrenched role of women in tackling problems in social, economic and human life and in the promotion of international peace and security.


Women parliamentarians, representatives of the executive, international organisations, scientific and social entities and influential personalities of the international feminist movement are participating in the work of the Forum at its second session from about 100 states.


The forum discusses a number of issues related to the promotion of women’s potential, the operationalisation of their political role, the development of the digital economy, social development, environmental security, international cooperation and the promotion of charitable and humanitarian projects. An exhibition of women’s projects led by Russian female entrepreneurs is being held in conjunction with the Forum, which opens today, September 19, in addition to an open debate on the role of woman in e-commerce.
