Direct effects of tropical system over: PACA

The internal committee for the management of exceptional weather conditions, met the under the chairmanship of Dr Mohammed bin Nasser al Zaabi, CEO, Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA), declared on Saturday that the direct effects tropical system are over.

The National Civil Defence Commission (NCCD) confirmed on Saturday said four people lost their lives due to tropical cyclone Mekunu in Dhofar governorate. It urged citizens and residents not to leave their homes and shelters until the situation is declared fully normal.

The latest weather charts and satellite images  at the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre still there are chances of occasional rain showers over Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates during the next 24 hours. 

The committee expressed its thanks to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for his great support for the civil aviation sector in general and to meteorology in particular. The committee also appreciated the cooperation of citizens and residents which has had a significant impact in reducing the impact of tropical cyclone.
The committee also valued all the efforts made by the National Committee for Civil Defense (NCCD) and the various civilian and military sectors
