MUSCAT: The heads of the diplomatic and consular missions and the United Nations offices in the Sultanate visited the new building of the Muscat International Airport on Thursday, during which they toured the various airport facilities and listened to detailed explanation of the mechanism of moving from the old building to the new building.
Eid bin Mohammed al Thaqafi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Sultanate, explained that the new Muscat Airport is an achievement that reaches the highest international standards, indicating that the airport will accommodate large numbers of passengers and that the new airport is commensurates with the reputation of the Sultanate and its economic and political position.
Azid Beya Mohammed Mahmoud, Ambassador of Mauritania to the Sultanate, said that the new Muscat Airport is one of the most prominent landmarks on the development road. He praised the aesthetic touch and operational capacity of the airport.
Mitsuo Saito, Japan’s Ambassador to the Sultanate, said the new airport building is more sophisticated and more efficient compared to the old building, noting that the new building is more suitable to the needs of customers.
Dr Bassam Saif al Din al Khatib, Ambassador of Syria to the Sultanate, pointed out that the new airport is a civilized move, adding that the new Muscat Airport building blends modernity and originality, as some of the materials used in the building are inspired by the Omani environment, adding that the new building is a civilisational landmark and part of a future project that highlights the image of the Sultanate.
The visit was attended by Dr Mohammed bin Nasser al Za’abi, CEO of the Public Authority of Civil Aviation, Ayman bin Ahmed al Hosani, CEO of Oman Airports Management Company and a number of officials from the Foreign Ministry, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation and Oman Airports Management Company. — ONA
