The Royal Oman Police Command in Dhofar achieved the first place in the Traffic Safety Contest (example and commitment).

On this occasion, Brigadier Mohsin al Abri, chief of Dhofar Police Command, congratulated the command, stressing that this should be an incentive for making more efforts towards achieving the desired goal of reducing traffic accidents and resulting deaths and injuries.

He thanked the community’s efforts, its cooperation with the ROP and positive interaction and understanding of the traffic rules.

“The decrease in the number of accidents and deaths in 2018 compared with 2017 is the result of efforts of Dhofar police and the response of government and private institutions along with members of society,” he said.

Al Abri said the traffic accidents and the consequent casualties leave a permanent scar on people and society as a whole.

On the five criteria for road safety competition (example and commitment) and the mechanism for applying them to win the award, the Brigadier said that Dhofar police command exerted its best efforts in applying the competition criteria in terms of planning and ways of enforcing rules.

Lectures, workshops, exhibitions and visits to schools and colleges played an important role in bringing down the accident rate. This is in addition to the role of social media.
