Defence Attaché office opens at Korean Embassy

MUSCAT, Sept 2 - The Defence Attaché office was opened at the Korean Embassy in Muscat on Wednesday, and Commander Shin Dong-youl was welcomed as the new resident Defence Attaché. The office was opened in the presence of Air Commodore Juma bin Talib al Jabri, Omani officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence along with ambassadors and military attache. The visiting Korean defence delegation, led by Rear Admiral Kim Jong-sam was welcomed by Kang Doho, the Korean Ambassador to the Sultanate. “Since 2009, Korean navy vessels, under UN resolution, have been in operation, securing sea lanes and providing safe navigation to the commercial vessels near Aden Bay, Somalia,” said the Korean ambassador. He said the opening of the Defence Attaché office reflects the expanding cooperative relationship between Oman and Korea. “Under the leadership of both countries, including the recent visit of the Korean Prime Minister to the Sultanate, new horizons of cooperation have opened,” he said.
