NIZWA: The 5th Omani Dates Festival will kick off today at the Hail Al Ghaf area in the Wilayat of Nizwa in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate under the auspices of Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali al Qatabi, State Adviser. Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in cooperation with the Public Authority for SME Development, the festival targets to encourage farmers and producers to accord more attention to date palm cultivation and improvement.
Earlier, the main committee in charge of Omani Dates Festival had conducted a preparatory meeting ahead of the dates festival under the chairmanship of under-secretary of Fisheries and Agriculture. The members discussed issues pertaining to logistic affairs of the festival, events and activities accompanying the festival. A visual presentation was displayed on companies competing to organise the event which will be held in Nizwa. The meeting was attended by wali of Nizwa and representatives from Oman Chamber for Commerce and Industry in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, Royal Oman Police, Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in Nizwa and Riyada.
