After the visit of the Kathak Dance troupe, led by Dinesh Poddar, in August, which gave enthralling performances in Muscat, Suhar, Nizwa and Salalah, will be treated with scintillating Indian contemporary dance performances by the dance troupe led by Guru Tanushree Shankar. Both the Groups have been sponsored by Indian Ministry of Culture to visit Oman to celebrate India @70.

The Indian contemporary dance troupe, led by Guru Tanushree Shankar, will be visiting Oman from November 8 to 15. The Group will perform at the Indian Embassy Lawns on November 9. It will also give performances at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Suhar, on November 10; Sur Royal Hall, Sur, on November 12; and at Indian Social Club in Salalah on November 14.

Dancer and choreographer, Guru Tanushree Shankar, is the Artistic Director of Tanushree Shankar Dance Troupe in Kolkata. Based on the creative style, pioneered by India’s legendary dancer Uday Shankar, Tanushree has developed a unique style of choreography, which is both creative and contemporary.

The dances, to be performed by her troupe, based on ‘Uday Shankar’s Style of Dance’, are set to the vibrant music of visionary artiste Ananda Shankar and others and are presented in a theatrical manner appreciated by the audiences worldwide. The dances, a perfect blend of the rich Indian Kathak traditions and the more open outlook of the West, are Indian in spirit, modern in presentation and universal in appeal.

The members of Tanushree Shankar Dance Troupe are accomplished dancers having performed both in India and abroad in more than 40 countries. They have performed in many prestigious festivals, including Middfest International in USA, the Womad Festival in UK & Canary Islands, the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in UK, ‘Opening Ceremony’ of India Festival in Russia, Maximum India Festival in USA & Canada, NABC in San Francisco and Canada.
