Muscat: The registration for third edition of the Entrepreneurship Award ended on Tuesday. The awards aim to reward entrepreneurs and organisations supporting micro, small and medium enterprises and foster culture of entrepreneurship.
The main aim of awards is to increase the private sector’s participation in economy and develop an economy based on knowledge and technological advancement.
Omantel is sponsoring this year’s edition of the award. Riyada has received 391 applications for 15 awards.
After short-listing the applicants, the judges will then organise site visits and hold interviews, to further evaluate the participants.
The first step of the assessment phase is categorising participants according to specific criteria. These criteria include, compliance with conditions of participation, achieving the qualification degree for this phase and choosing three assessors for each business, as the average of each will be counted.
“For the third edition of the Entrepreneurship Award, the registration and assessment are done electronically.
“To make these procedures more accurate and efficient, a new website and system has been launched. Progression can be tracked through the new system. Due to this new system, the Award’s team can easily contact those applicants who were selected and inform them about the next step,” commented Badriya al Hinai, Project Manager of the Award.
Riyada hosted 15 awareness workshops across Oman, which were attended by more than 600 representatives from public and private institutions.
The workshops highlighted the importance of the third edition’s theme, which is “Success is a Shared Responsibility”.
The theme reinforces the message that supporting SMEs in Oman is not limited to a few, all need to contribute in enhancing presences and competitiveness of Omani entrepreneurs and their businesses.
Strong emphasis was made upon the joint efforts of individuals and institutions, as well as their integration for the success of Omani entrepreneurs.
The third edition of the Award includes 15 awards divided into three main categories: The Entrepreneurship Award, Entrepreneurship Award for SME and the Entrepreneurship Award for Supporting Organisation.
