MUSCAT: The Civil Service Council on Sunday held its 3rd meeting of the year under the chairmanship of Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, and Chairman of the Civil Service Council.

The meeting reviewed the follow-up report on what has been done to implement the decisions and recommendations of its second meeting in 2017.

It also reviewed the items on the agenda and also discussed topics received from various governmental departments about regularising the employment conditions for some of their employees to be compatible with the organisations they work for and with their roles and responsibilities as shown in the Civil Service Law and its executive regulation, as well as job classification and system.

It also discussed issues related to appointment applications and contracts for some technical jobs in light of the council’s powers in this regard.

The Council discussed the reasons of such requests in terms of their importance to the functioning of the concerned authorities and the exercise of its terms of reference assigned to it, particularly in the area of the completion of the technical aspects associated with its work and the implementation of their own projects.

The Council also discussed requests of a number of government units for their employees on loan by combining the basic salary of those employees in their work and the salary received by them from the loaning entities, according to the legal provisions governing this in the Civil Service Law and its executive regulation.

The meeting reviewed some requests about deciding the official working hours and shift timings for some branches or divisions of the administrative apparatus of the State to be consistent with the nature of their jobs and powers and according to the authority of the council in this regard.

The meeting reviewed a number of other topics on its agenda sent by various ministries and governmental units and took appropriate decisions and recommendations in their regard. — ONA
