More than a religiously auspicious ceremony of breaking the fast and thus ending the long-hours’ starving for a divine cause, iftar gatherings have taken a bigger dimension by embracing more of a networking nature for business houses in the city. The corporate scenario of Oman is abuzz with organising iftar gatherings where all their stakeholders and other well-wishers are invited for a sumptuous iftar gathering followed by a gala dinner. On a given date, a star hotel is booked for at least three to four iftar gatherings of various nature by corporates, NGOs and other family gatherings apart from the usual bookings at the restaurants.


“Corporate iftar scenario is gradually picking up. On an average, we receive at least 6 to 10 bookings with a minimum of 15 people in each booking”, says a sales and marketing executive of a star hotel.

“By next week, iftar bookings will be at the peak with at least 20 to 25 bookings and lot of enquiries”, she added.


From multi-national companies to small scale firms and from corporate honchos to a sole trader, there is no difference in hosting one’s friends and relatives, business partners, stakeholders and well-wishers.


One of Oman’s telecommunications company, Ooredoo, topped the list as one of the lavish and prolific iftar celebrant usually holding their iftar gathering this year on May 31, 2017 at Kargeen inviting media personnel, along with their stakeholders.


KIMS Oman hospital held their gathering on June 3.


Muslim Educational Society (MES), an NGO, conducted its iftar gathering on the same day as KIMS Oman but welcomed their guest at the Avenues Mall programme’s hall.


Oman Oil Marketing Company combined its launch of the 3rd At’a Campaign and annual iftar gathering together on June 5, 2017 at the Crystal Ballroom of Grand Millennium Muscat.


Khimji Ramdas, a major business conglomerate having diversified business interests will be hosting their well-wishers on June 8 at the Sheraton, in association with their social development arm, Eshraqa.

The others on the way to celebrating their annual iftar gathering are ORPIC and Traccs on June 7 at the Grand Millennium and The Chedi respectively.


Khimji Ramdas, a major business conglomerate having diversified business interests will be hosting their well-wishers on June 8 at the Sheraton, in association with their social development arm, Eshraqa.


OIFC, Oman Investment and Finance Company, will be welcoming their stakeholders and their supporters to a delicious gathering at the Prince Hall for Weddings and Conferences while Said Ahmed Safrar, CEO of OIFC will be personally welcoming the guests.


Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Shangri-La’s Barr al Jizza, the Golden Tulip, Park Inn Muscat and almost all the hotels are witnessing an increasing number of corporate iftars which is also a perfect venue to network and exchange contacts.
