SUHAR: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) marked the Gulf Consumer Protection Week, whose activities kicked off in the Wilayat of Suhar under the theme “Towards Secure Electronic Shopping for Consumers” at Sohar Plaza under the auspices of Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information, in the presence of Chairman of PACP, Governor of North Al Batinah and officials.

Dr Said bin Khamis al Ka’abi, Chairman of PACP, said this celebration is an annual event and a periodic station that aims at highlighting the importance of solidarity and cooperation among all segments of the society with consumers.

He added that it also confirms that the consumer has a great global importance in contemporary life, how important is the full realisation of the consumer rights, and striving to give the consumer first priority in various trade and economic processes.

At the end of the ceremony, the Minister of Information honoured sponsors and supporters of the programmes and events of the Gulf Consumer Protection Week.

During the week, many lectures and exhibitions will be held in different governorates, as well as a series of radio and television programmes that aim at highlighting the objectives and activities of the week.

The Gulf Week is one of the events organised by the GCC countries on March 1 each year, with the aim of educating the consumer about his/her rights and duties, and introducing the trader as a partner in the process to his responsibilities towards the consumer. The week is part of integrating the Gulf efforts to extend the consumer protection umbrella. — ONA
