Consumer gets money back for defective vehicle

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) recently recovered more than RO10,000 in favor of a consumer through a mutual settlement.


The case is based on a complaint received from a consumer who had purchased a new vehicle from a dealership for RO10,300.


After receiving the vehicle, several defects were noticed, including on the rear bumper, lack of stability and the presence of scratches.


The vehicle odometer showed it was used for 34km before the delivery.


The consumer returned to the agency that acknowledged only the defects in the front of the vehicle.


Following some bitter exchanges, the consumer filed a complaint to the PACP, which following its investigations initiated friendly settlement agreement between the consumer and the agency. Subsequently, the entire amount to the consumer.
