MUSCAT: Water patrols of the Coast Guard Police in North Al Batinah seized a smuggler boat with two Asian persons on board. Police also seized 32 boxes of alcoholic beverages. A Coast Guard boat seized a boat with six Asian persons and recovered a large amount of alcoholic beverages in Musandam. The Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation at Dhofar Governorate Police Command arrested an Asian man who is wanted by his country’s authorities in connection with a murder.
An official at Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that the Arab and International Police Liaison Directorate (Interpol) at the Directorate-General of Inquires and Criminal Investigation received a letter from the security authorities in the defendant’s country informing them that he is wanted on a murder charge. The suspect was arrested following an investigation in the Wilayat of Salalah. He admitted that he opened fire on a group of people killing one of them. The defendant was extradited to the concerned authority in his country. Police in Al Buraimi arrested a defendant of an Arab nationality while attempting to smuggle a large amount of alcoholic beverages into the Sultanate in a truck. Police seized more than 21,000 bottles of alcohol from the truck.
