CMA to hold training workshop for insurance agents

MUSCAT: The Capital Market Authority (CMA) will organise a training workshop for insurance agents in collaboration with the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises targeting national cadres to acquaint them with technical and administrative skills required for distributing licensed insurance products. The five-day workshop will start on Sunday, December 18, at the premises of the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises ‘Riyadah’ at Ghala.

Rashid bin Mohammed al Rashdi (pictured), Director of Requirements and Licensing Department at CMA said the workshop is being held for the second time this year stressing CMA is keen to promote the profession of insurance agents as it attracts the entrepreneurs of small and medium enterprises as well as a response to the requirements of the Insurance Agents Regulations which directs the sector towards Omanisation of insurance agents’ profession for added value to the national economy and achieving the partnership with the private sector to be able to accommodate national cadres.

Al Rashdi added that the programme would enhance the spread of insurance agents at the licensed insurance companies for its importance in spreading insurance coverage in the various wilayats of the Sultanate. The insurance agents’ programme is part of CMA’s endeavours to achieve the visions to enable the Omani youth working for insurance companies, brokers and agents to take administrative and technical roles and to enhance their skills to upgrade the sector.
