If the construction of the Children’s Public Library created excitement, the “soft opening” of the facility located in Qurum has been well-received by young readers and their parents. Since its opening a month ago, the number of daily visitors to the library has increased from 60 to 175 children. According to the librarians, both Arabic and English books are available for children in the age group three to 17 years. “There are more books on the way,” they added.

The library offers e-Services and stories that children can explore. An e-Library is also on the cards.

At present, only one floor is operational, but other floors are designed to be included as part of the library in the future.

With bright colours, sunlight streaming in and plenty of space to move, around, as well as tables, chairs, beanbags and open bookshelves, the library has caught the children’s imagination.
