MUSCAT, May 30 – As many as 650 teams will take part in the “Cheer Your Team” programme which is run by the Ministry of Sports Affairs for football. Also, another 125 teams will play in the volleyball tournament for the same programme around the Sultanate. The main committee of Cheer Your Team completed all its preparation and circulated the technical regulations with clubs and related sports affairs directorates in different governorates in cooperation with Oman Football Association and Oman Volleyball Association.
The sixth edition of Cheer Your Team programme will kick off tomorrow (Friday) in different clubs and will finish by mid of July. Second phase will be at the governorate level and it will be held from July 19 to 28 while the winners from second phase will take part at the Sultanate level which will start on August 2 to 11.
For the volleyball tournament, the participating clubs will compete in only two stages. First stage will start on July 1 to 15 while the second stage will be during July 20 to August 5.
Al Yahmadi stated that this year there will be another competition between the fans of the teams at third round. “Our aim is to build a new culture in the mind of fans which reflect Omani values and principles. There will be different criteria to evaluate the best fans at the end of third stage and valuable prize is waiting for winner team,” Al Yahmadi pointed out.
“We will launch very soon our new media and music brand for the programme. Also, the new updated website of the programme is almost ready to re-launch again.
New website of the programme will contain all the information related to the previous editions of the programme and it will be as a resource for everyone to get the required data and information.” chairman of Cheer Your Team added.
“Cheer Your Team’ programme is ranked as one of the popular programmes in the Sultanate. We worked very hard to do marketing for this product. Almost, the team has now reached the highest level with a well-known local brand coming forward to become the sponsor.” Al Yahmadi concluded.
