Captain Prasad propels Basta to victory

MUSCAT: Excellent all-round show by captain Prasad Peruli steered Basta CT to a 54-run victory against OCT Al Hail in a C Division game at Muscat Municipality ground I in Al Amerat on Friday.


Batting first, Basta piled up 190 for 8 in 20 overs, Prasad topscoring with a superb 73 off 51 balls. Deepak Gakhar (36 off 21) and Murad Khan (27 off 13) were the other notable scorers. Haroon Trad and Mohammed Haneef Al Balushi bagged three and two wickets respectively.


OCT Al Hail fell way short, managing only 138 for 9 in the stipulated overs.


Waleed Rahim was the highest scorer with 26 off 23 balls. Prasad Peruli and Deepak Gakhar claimed two wickets each.


Brief scores: Basta 190 for 8 in 20 overs (Prasad Peruli 73 – 11x4, Deepak Gakhar 36 – 4x4, Murad Khan 27 – 3x4. Haroon Trad 3-31, Mohammed Haneef Al Balushi 2-24) defeated OCT Al Hail 138 for 9 in 20 overs (Waleed Rahim Al Balushi 26 – 4x4. Prasad Peruli 2-15, Deepak Gakhar 2-25) by 54 runs.


Jibin stars in easy win

Jibin Kunnumpurat’s superb all-round performance guided Al Rehwan to a comfortable 6-wicket victory against Mustafa Sultan Enterprises (MSE) in an F Division match at Muscat Municipality ground 3.


MSE were bundled out for 114 in 20 overs. Baiju Gopalkrishnan scored 30 off 29.


Mohammed Riyas took three wickets while Raniz Mohammed and Jibin Kunnumpurat bagged two each.


Al Rehwan raced to the target in the 15th over, thanks to Jibin’s magnificent knock of 61 off 37.


Brief scores: MSE 114 all out in 20 overs (Baiju Gopalkrishnan 30 – 4x4. Mohammed Riyas 3-22, Raniz Muhammed 2-28, Jibin Kunnumpurat 2-29) lost to Al Rehwan (Jibin Kannumpurat 61 – 8x4, 2x6) by six wickets.


Suhail spurs Khalsa to victory


In another E Division game, Khalsa United trounced Mehul Enterprises by 48 runs thanks to a hurricane 62 off 31 balls by opening batsman Suhail at Muscat Municipality ground 4.


Khalsa put a big total on the board, scoring 184 for 7 in 20 overs with Suhail playing a scintillating knock.


Fellow opener Sushil Kadam contributed 25 in a 69-run stand for the first wicket. Dhaval Desai and Shameel Mohammed claimed three and two wickets respectively.


Mehul suffered early setbacks and failed to recover from being five down for 34 in the sixth over. Finally, it could manage only 135 for 9 in 20 overs, Donald Taylor (43 off 32) and Shadab Kazi (25 off 25) being the only notable scorers. Arvind Singh, Daniel Younis and Sushil Kadam all took two wickets each.

Dhaval Desai 3-20, Shameel Mohammed 2-36) beat Mehul Enterprises 135 for 9 in 20 overs (Donald Taylor 43 – 1x4, 2x6, Shadab Kazi 25 – 3x4. Arvind Singh 2-14, Daniel Younis 2-18, Sushil Kadam 2-31) by 48 runs.
