Campaign against mosquitoes concludes

MUSCAT, Jan 23 - The campaign for elimination of mosquitoes concluded in the Governorate of Muscat on Wednesday.
According to indications, the campaign, which ran from January 8 to 23, has shown a drop in the number of dengue cases as well as Aedes aegypti mosquito-breeding sites.
The concluding ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health.
Hundreds of households and 25,000 facilities, including commercial outlets, were disinfected as part of the campaign, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The joint campaign of the MoH and the Muscat Municipality, which began on January 8 in Al Hail, was initiated in the wake of cases of dengue reported in some parts of the governorate.
As many as 67 dengue cases had been confirmed, of which 30 included those who travelled to the infected areas.
A plan has been developed to continue eliminate the mosquitoes in some areas of Muscat governorate.
The Central Committee of the Campaign has called upon citizens and residents to continue to adhere to practices adopted to eliminate the mosquito-breeding sites and follow health instructions.
It has thanked all citizens, residents as well as the media for their cooperation during the campaign.
